How to Style Your Pilates Clothes for Autumn

How to Style Your Pilates Clothes for Autumn

Making Your Pilates Style Work Outside the Studio This Autumn

There was a time when your Pilates outfit only really needed to make it as far as the studio.

Not anymore.

The modern Pilates wardrobe has a significantly fuller diary. There's the coffee afterwards. The food shop on the way home. The Saturday walk. The school run. The I'll just quickly pop into Zara that somehow takes 45 minutes.

And as we head into Autumn, we're very much here for activewear that can do both.

The secret isn't buying an entirely new wardrobe. It's choosing a few beautiful colour palettes, adding the right layers and paying attention to the smaller details that make leggings and a sports bra feel like an actual look.

Starting, naturally, with the socks.

The Autumn Pilates Palette

This season, we're putting the brights on pause and leaning into shades that look every bit as good with a trench coat as they do on the Reformer.

Think:

Espresso. Chocolate. Oatmeal. Soft grey. Powder blue. Cream. Stone.

Colours that mix together, work with the pieces already hanging in your wardrobe and — crucially — don't scream I've just come from the gym.

Here are the three colour combinations we're building our Autumn Pilates wardrobe around.

LOOK ONE: The Coffee Run

Chocolate brown + mocha + cream

If there's one colour family that was made for Autumn, it's brown.

And we're not talking one shade.

Layer espresso, chocolate, mocha, caramel and creamy together for a tonal look that feels expensive without requiring much effort at all.

Alo's rich brown activewear is particularly good inspiration here. An espresso legging or matching set instantly feels more autumnal than classic black and works just as easily outside the studio with an oversized knit or sweatshirt.

How we'd wear it

Start with a deep brown legging and sports bra.

Throw over an oversized cream or oatmeal sweatshirt after class.

Add a long chocolate coat, tortoiseshell sunglasses and your everyday trainers.

Coffee in hand is technically optional.

Aesthetically? Essential.

THE JELLYLEGZ MATCH

Tiger's Eye Mocha for a seamless tonal look.

Espresso Brown if you want to go fully into the coffee palette.

Or Espresso Martini to bring a creamy contrast against darker brown leggings.

THE FORMULA:
Espresso set + creamy layer + mocha grippies + oversized coat.

Consider your Saturday morning outfit sorted.

LOOK TWO: The Soft Grey Reset

Grey marl + powder pastels + white

Grey has quietly become one of our favourite alternatives to black.

It's softer. It's incredibly easy to style. And paired with pale blue, cream or white, it gives that beautifully understated I didn't try too hard look that, ironically, requires just enough thought.

H&M Move is particularly good territory for this palette, with light grey marl activewear and layers alongside softer shades such as sky blue.

And this is exactly where Moonstone comes into its own.

Our soft grey grip sock with its crisp white toe was practically designed for this wardrobe.

How we'd wear it

Grey leggings.

White sports bra or fitted tee.

Soft grey oversized zip hoodie.

Then add Moonstone socks and trainers for class — and swap the studio layer for a long wool coat when you head outside.

Want something a little less monochrome?

Add a powder-blue top or sweatshirt.

The soft pastel against grey feels fresh enough for the end of summer but cosy enough to carry straight through Autumn.

THE JELLYLEGZ MATCH

Moonstone with grey marl, every time.

Cloud Blue if you want the sock to become the pop of colour.

Or Celestine for that soft blue-and-cream combination that makes grey feel instantly less serious.

THE FORMULA:
Grey marl + white + powder blue + Moonstone.

Clean. Cool. Effortlessly put together.

LOOK THREE: Quiet Luxury Pilates

Cream + bone + sand + natural

Cream activewear in Autumn?

Absolutely.

The trick is to stop thinking of it as a summer neutral and start layering it with stone, camel, oatmeal and warm beige.

lululemon's Light Ivory and Bone pieces are exactly the sort of tonal starting point we mean — soft neutrals that can move from Pilates into a more everyday wardrobe without looking overly sporty.

Think less gym kit.

More off-duty cashmere-and-coffee energy.

How we'd wear it

Cream or bone leggings.

A white vest or bra.

An oversized beige quarter zip thrown over the top.

Then layer with a camel coat, neutral tote and trainers once class is over.

The key here is not making every neutral identical.

Cream against stone against oatmeal against sand is what gives the outfit depth.

THE JELLYLEGZ MATCH

Gravel Dune is the obvious choice.

Its warm sand-and-cream tones give a pale outfit just enough contrast without interrupting the neutral palette.

For an even softer look, go Coconut Cream.

And if you're wearing a cooler beige rather than warm cream, Espresso Martini gives you that perfect slightly deeper finish.

THE FORMULA:
Bone + oatmeal + camel + Gravel Dune.

Quiet luxury, but make it Reformer.

The Secret to Making Activewear Look Less Like Activewear

Here's the thing.

You don't necessarily need different clothes for Pilates and everything that comes afterwards.

You just need to change the styling around them.

Take your favourite leggings and add:

An oversized knit rather than a gym jacket.

A trench or wool coat rather than a puffer.

A structured tote rather than your workout bag.

Sunglasses.

Gold hoops.

Fresh socks.

Suddenly, the outfit you've worn to Pilates all summer feels completely different.

The activewear becomes the base layer rather than the entire outfit.

And that is exactly what makes your wardrobe work harder.

Don't Automatically Match Your Socks

We love a matching set.

We love matching socks.

But some of our favourite looks happen when the grippies don't match perfectly.

Chocolate leggings with cream socks.

Grey leggings with powder blue.

Cream leggings with Gravel Dune.

Black leggings with literally any of the above.

Think of your grip socks in the same way you'd choose a trainer, handbag or scarf.

They're not just functional.

They're the bit that can change the mood of the whole outfit.

The Three-Pair Autumn Capsule

If you're refreshing your Pilates wardrobe for the new season, we'd start here:

ONE WEAR-WITH-EVERYTHING NEUTRAL

Moonstone or Coconut Cream.

ONE AUTUMN COFFEE SHADE

Tiger's Eye, Espresso Brown or Espresso Martini.

ONE COLOUR TO CHANGE THE MOOD

Cloud Blue or Celestine.

Three pairs suddenly give the sets you already own a completely different feel.

Which is rather convenient, because right now you can mix & match any 3 Jellylegz pairs for £30.

So instead of spending the Autumn budget on five new Pilates sets, spend £30 refreshing what you already own.

And invest the rest where it really matters.

The boots.

The coat.

And the coffee.

SHOP THE AUTUMN SOCK EDIT

Mix & match any 3 pairs for £30.

Because the best Pilates wardrobe doesn't stop working when class does.
