Here’s everything you need to know about why your instructor is exactly right!  You see Pilates Grip socks are actually essentials in many Reformer Pilates Studios for a number of  reasons:-

First and foremost, grip socks offer added safety during Reformer Pilates exercises. They are designed with small rubberized grips on the soles, which help provide traction and prevent slipping on the smooth surfaces typically found on the Reformer Beds.

This is especially beneficial when performing exercises that involve balance or when transitioning between different positions. By keeping your feet securely planted, grip socks reduce the risk of accidental falls or injuries.  Think Scooters, Skaters, Side Splitz!

How do pilates grip socks enhance your performance during Reformer Pilates?

The grips on the soles allow you to push off or stabilize yourself more effectively, which can help you maintain proper form and alignment throughout your workout. This can be particularly advantageous when executing movements that require engaging your core or targeting specific muscle groups.

Moreover, wearing grip socks can enhance hygiene in shared Pilates spaces. Pilates studios often require participants to remove their shoes, and wearing grip socks provides a barrier between your feet and the equipment or floor. This not only helps keep your feet clean but also prevents the spread of germs or bacteria.

How important is it to choose the right grip socks for reformer pilates?

Safety:- don’t be fooled into thinking all pilates grip socks are the same!  You could pay an excessive amount for a pair from a sports brand but the reality is they are not meant for dynamic reformer pilates!  It’s all about the grip you see!

'We see lots of clients visit with socks they have especially bought and spent a lot of money on' explains ReformME studio instructor Chris Rimmer.  'Within their first session our guests can often realize that they are slipping around on the bed and they are struggling to hold specific positions. Quite often they will end up in reception part way through investing in a pair of Jellylegz pilates grip socks to keep them feeling secure on the bed!'  Chris goes on to explain that the instructors don't say a word and it's generally the other clients in the class that recommend and advise on the different types of socks.
